Update on life with MacOS

It’s been a few months since I started using the Macbook Pro (intel) for work, and I have decided to update whoever is reading this on the various thoughts I’ve had while getting familiarized with the OS.

  • Why is the file management system so bad? I do like the use of tags, though

  • Generally, keyboard shortcuts aren’t as efficient as they could be

  • Battery life is great…unless I’m running a video service that isn’t FaceTime (Zoom, Google Meet, etc)

  • Microsoft apps are terribly resource heavy compared to running them on Windows

  • Terminal is ::chef’s kiss:: A++

  • Integration with iPhone is… fine? I don’t know why everyone is so amazed by this technology enough to make it a selling point for the macOS? I could do the same things on my old Windows laptop and my android phone…Sometimes even easier.

    Overall, it’s been a fun experience getting to learn the ins and outs of a new operating system. As I switch back and forth between my various devices I find myself working to make Windows run more like Mac, and making my Macbook closer to Windows in certain aspects. I guess the world isn’t quite ready for a third option that takes the best features of both operating systems, but personally? I can’t wait.
