I love my job. At its core, I get to learn new scientific concepts and have opportunities to teach these concepts to others.

As a Community Engagement Manager at Seven Bridges, I get to lead outreach efforts and training initiatives where I can share my knowledge with a wide range of researchers including genomics scientists, bioinformatics tool developers, clinicians, and course instructors.

In more complicated terms, I get to hone my existing bioinformatic skills with opportunities to program in R and/or Python. I use these programming skills to work with large scale -omics data processing on the cloud and/or high-performance computing. I stay up to date with my knowledge of the clinical applications of genomics in cancer and other therapeutic areas, and the potential challenges researchers face when integrating genomics into clinical workflows.

  • Outreach & Engagement

I plan and support workshops at conferences or other major events to recruit users for Seven Bridges public platforms. I love to show people how easy and fun it can be to work on their research projects. Behind the desk, I assist in the preparation of conference abstracts and posters communicating scientific findings. I love to connect with new labs and institutions, so please feel free to send me an email!

  • Bioinformatics & Cloud Computing

I work on the Cancer Genomics Cloud where I get to create workflows, pipelines, and scripts to conduct scientific analyses. I teach others how to convert their existing workflows into CWL. Using CWL, it’s easy to scale complex data analysis and machine learning workflows from a single developer's laptop up to massively parallel cluster, cloud and high performance computing environments. • Science Communication

Science communication is the practice of informing, educating, raising awareness of science-related topics, and increasing the sense of wonder about scientific discoveries and arguments. I’m passionate about explaining scientific concepts in a way that makes them accessible to everyone!

  • Representation
